Ingredients:

Farmhouse Beef Chili
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground turkey or pork
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • .8 oz Halladay's Farmhouse Chili Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Meat: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat over medium heat. Add the ground beef and ground turkey (or pork). Cook until browned and crumbled, about 8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  2. Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the pot. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

  3. Add Flavorings: Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes. Add Halladay's Farmhouse Chili Seasoning to taste, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Pour in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and beef broth. Stir to combine all ingredients.

  5. Simmer the Chili: Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili is thickened and flavors are well blended.

  6. Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Ladle into bowls and garnish with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, sliced green onions, and chopped cilantro if desired.

Tips:

  • For added heat, incorporate a chopped jalapeño or a splash of hot sauce.
  • This chili is perfect for make-ahead meals and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
  • When adding the Farmhouse Chili Seasoning add it to your preferred taste.
